5 Interior Design Trends for 2019

1. ART DECO

This opulent style will be making a come-back in 2019. Think luxurious materials, finely detailed craftsmanship and exquisite geometric patterns.

2. WARM NEUTRALS

Keep interiors soft and inviting with warm neutral colours and warm dimmable lighting (3000K or less), steer clear of cool greys and cold, harsh lighting that will deaden a room.

3. DARK DETAILS

Dark, sleek detailing will be front and centre this year. Think black cabinetry in kitchens and bathrooms to add a modern edge, dark appliances, accessories and hardware with unique features such as leather surfaces, and dark textural curtains in sheers or opaques to add drama to your space.

4. VINTAGE

All things sustainable will continue to be a huge focus in 2019 (and beyond). You can reduce, reuse and recycle by investing in quality vintage items rather than buying cheap disposable products. Check out Lunatiques, a huge warehouse full of vintage pieces in Mascot, Sydney. If you are looking to donate old items, or seeking up-cycled furniture, take a look at The Bower, a reuse and repair centre in Marrickville, Sydney.

5. BESPOKE FURNISHINGS

With the growing ease-of-access to mass-produced furnishings online, unique, custom-made items will only continue to increase in desirability. For timeless, artisan-made timber furniture and doors, go to Coopers Store in Caringbah, Sydney.
