Under The Moonlight

This project is a perfect example of how a dedicated cinema can be integrated into an existing space with thoughtful design and meticulous planning. The client wanted to convert their downstairs rumpus room into a cinema while maintaining the original floor tiles, bar area, and backyard access. Initially uncertain, they moved forward after consulting with Wavetrain Cinemas.

Despite the compact size, the design evolved through careful collaboration. The A/V equipment was originally planned for a separate basement area but was later incorporated into a custom joinery unit, housing subwoofers, Blu-rays, and other components. A removable fixed-frame screen, secured with a Velcro system, allows for easy servicing, while strategic ventilation slots and cable management ensure seamless operation.

The result is a highly functional cinema that enhances the space without compromising its original features. The clients now use and enjoy their cinema far more than they ever expected, proving that even modest spaces can be transformed into immersive entertainment rooms with the right expertise.
