Brisbane’s climate, architecture and open-plan living present specific challenges when designing a home theatre. Our approach is developed around these conditions, so each installation delivers consistent results in real Brisbane homes. Wavetrain was founded by David Moseley, Australia’s longest-serving video calibrator and the CEDIA RP22 instructor for the Asia-Pacific region. Certified by ISF and PVA, David and the team calibrate every Wavetrain cinema to the international benchmark they help teach. Our team also includes acoustic engineers, architects, interior designers, and mechanical engineers, so every part of the room is resolved by a specialist rather than a generalist.

A Wavetrain cinema is designed as a complete audio-visual system, not a set of separate components. We specify projection, screen, immersive surround-sound and object-based Dolby Atmos audio, amplification and sources from a curated range of the industry’s leading cinema brands, selected to suit the room rather than a catalogue.

Calibration is central to the result. Using 1D and 3D LUTs, we align each projector or display so the image reproduces the intent of the film’s director and cinematographer. Audio is calibrated for speaker placement, level balancing, time alignment and room acoustics, so sound is even and precise across every seat. Every system is fully commissioned and calibrated before handover.

In lightweight Queensland construction, keeping sound inside the cinema matters as much as the sound within it. Where a project requires it, we engineer isolation beyond the measures most companies take: custom air-conditioning cavities, noise-attenuated fresh-air intakes, pressure-release systems and custom sound-isolation doors, with air-conditioning designed for low static pressure and quiet operation. The result is an immersive room that does not disturb the rest of the home.

Brisbane’s architecture shapes each design. High-set Queenslanders often provide an under-croft or lower level suited to a dedicated cinema, though timber floors and framing require considered isolation and structural support. Inner-city apartments around Fortitude Valley, New Farm, Teneriffe and Bulimba call for tight control of sound transfer and compliance with body-corporate requirements. Open-plan homes through Chapel Hill, Brookfield and Paddington suit a media room that performs cinematically while remaining part of everyday living.
